No demo?

Post by robc04_1 »

I am interested in trying the game, but it appears there is no demo. I saw a post a year or so ago that stated a demo is in the works, but I can't find any reference to a demo actually being released. I really only play single player and it seems like the strength of the game may be multiplayer, so I definitely won't buy the game if I can't try a demo first. Thanks for any info.

I cant imagine Slitherine having the resources to put out a demo this late in the game....
That being said, I think perusing around the forums will give you an idea if there is enough game only for the single player experiance. With the editor etc i think there certainly is but thats me...

Also, any game that build up a huge MP community generally exudes that aura that " Mp is where its at "

I play multiplayer almost exclusively, but still I'd like there to be a demo, though not for me.

I think it would make a lot of economical sense to release a demo. In fact it's a pity there wasn't one from the start.

I've recommended the game to several of my friends (whom I'd like to trash in a MP game  ), but they're not too impressed by the movies on YouTube (that don't give the game credit imo).

They said they'd consider it if they could play a demo, but alas...
Knowing them, the silly thing is that I know they'd like it.
They're just not too keen on risking disappointment (happened with other games in the past...), and as such never purchase anything without having played a demo.

That's 2-4 lost sales right there... (and me playing against strangers only, although I must say it's a friendly community :D )

Building demos can take a lot of resources to make them compelling, but it's interesting that you (Epi) mention drawing in friends. We are hard at work on our Invite system, which would allow you to invite friends to play (using a demo version) against you on specially built MP maps. We think it's a great way for enthusiastic players to show their friends what a lot of fun it can be.

We'll probably do the first run at this using BA, but then FoG is definitely the next likely candidate.

Cheers
