Have found the cost of changing units quite a problem, had to replay Norway to get different units set for France which has proved to be a pain.
I'm not the best player but would think that on easy France shouldn't be to bad but it's a struggle.
Would be better to have another map like Denmark to build units up ready for Norway then on France.

I agree, Norway is not too hard on Normal but The low countries are impossible if Norway does not go perfect.

hmm i played the 39 campaign on "normal" and i sensed the most map as too easy, maybe the lowlands were so hard because of the mixture of units? I am interested in the composite of your core army in the lowlands. Has you lost expierienced units in Norway?

I lost in Norway because I couldn't get rid of submarine sitting in prt. This mad the low countries very difficult and I just managed to be successful on the last turn. This made taking paris very difficult as the units I had left were low on strength. It cost that much prestige to get them back upto full strength I had little prestige for new units.
However, I am perservearing with my current campaign. I have also played a couple of scenarious with various success

I am still enjoying the game, but have a few points to make that I have come across.

1. In the later war years, when tigers 1 and 2 and panthers become available, the points to buy them seems extremely high, making it difficult to either buy or upgrade your older units.
2. Sometimes the scrolling freezes and then goes too fast, although this may be my laptop.lol
3 As mentioned by others, the tutorials for me don't really work. I already had the basics of the game, but others who may not may take a while to get to grips with the game, as all as the tutorials allow you is to practice by trial and erro, without much cost. I would also like to see the Condor legion in Spain as an early scenario in the campaign as a starter/introduction to help train your units. Crete would also be another good idea.
4. To add a bit of variation and unknown quantity, how about a few made up scenarios to compete in, or possibly even a complete hypothetical campaign. This may add a new dimension to the game.
5. I have found sometimes mountain terrain does not have much effect in respect of movement etc.
I am still loving the game and looking forward to playing more and enjoying the final game when it is available[/list]

One thing I found with Norway was the Para's are way better than anything else for attaching towns.
If the upgrade/change costs wheren't so high...Change any infantry over to Para's with half tracks.
The hardest thing is getting the right mix of units to be able to progress.
I can't get my head arround how the attach values and defence falues equate....

try getting heavy weapons for your infantry in the low countries, they have a nice punch vs enemy infantry and tanks. Buy at least 3 fighters and on turn one keep them over your arty and forward infantry in the low countries. Move your infantry slowly forward so they don't auto mount up in trucks or halftracks and you will stand a better chance against enemy ground units. Air superiority with fighters is crucial to take out the allied air forces so your own planes can attack enemy artillery and tanks. Stukas are good for taking out enemy AA, Me 110's are good against arty and armour. Even your Me109's are good vs tanks and arty if you have no other air power available. Try to avoid attacking enemy heavy weapons and engineers with your tac bombers and fighters, they have pretty good AA and will usually cost you a few strength points.
If possible stay on your side of the river and try to get the Allies to attack you from the river hex, you should give them a good pasting and after they are destroyed you can move across the river. having at least one unit adjacent to a city hex will prevent the allies from being able to deploy new troops there, that is the key to success, keep them from getting new troops and destroy what troops they have.
hope those suggestions help you out

Cool, thanks for that Deadtorius. Saw a post about attaching near bottom of map and going for the cost, so I'm having a go there. Looks like the differcuilty is less or more Prestige not a lot else that I can see... Has there been any comment from Slitherine about this?

Air superiority is the key for sucess! :-)
Another good thing is the use of Level Bombers like Ju88 / He111 etc. it kills only litte strength (except against ships) but it destroy ammo, it "dug out" entrenched units usefull before attacking a city, and it supresses units. So i always have 2 or 3 Level Bombers in use.

Later it helps you against heavy tanks ... :-)

Also good is a use of combined arms, use your air units and the artillery to weaken the enemy and after that use the ground forces for attack! :-) Always good to take out enemy artillery before attacking the other units that avoids a lot of casualities on your side and make your attacks more effective.

I prefer to have always one rail artillery unit in core, because it has a nice range and especially in the early years a decent firepower, so you often can attack enemy units witch are not in range for your regular artillery units.

Another good thing is self propelled artillery cause you can give your advancing units cover and the one wich looks like a Sd kfz. 250 with rockets on the side i think the name is "wurfrahmen40" or so ... has real good firepower!
