Can commanded shot give and receive protection from Allied horse?

Pete,

I would say yes, if they are a "cavaliers, horse or determined horse belonging to another friendly battlegroup" (p126).

The alternative based on a view that allied BGs are not friendly BGs would, in my opinion, be pretty radical and would, for example, mean that allied BGs could not provide rear support or prevent threatened flanks, interpenetrate etc...
