Cornish Rebellion - Battle of Deptford Bridge 1497

Post by stockwellpete »

I have just been looking through my scenario notebook and I found this idea that I had for a scenario a while back. I suppose it is best described as being "inspired" by events at Deptford over 500 years ago. In actual fact, King Henry VII had mobilised around 25,000 soldiers to confront about 10,000 Cornishmen who had camped on Blackheath Common on the evening of 16 June. Lord Giles Daubeney led the frontal assault on the Cornish position at dawn on 17 June, while Lords Oxford, Essex and Suffolk took two-thirds of the Royalist army on an encircling manoeuvre to the rear.

This scenario concentrates on the frontal assault only - of course, in real life, once the Royalist troops arrived in their rear the Cornish army was doomed and their leaders were subsequently executed.
