GS v2.00 release very soon
I just wanted to inform you that the GS development team has now completed their work on GS v2.0 and sent the files to Slitherine both for the MAC and PC. Slitherine will soon give us an installer that we can test and as soon as we verify the installer works then Slitherine will make GS v2.00 available on their WEB site so all of you can have fun playing it.
Please look at the Slitherine WEB page next week for news about the upcoming release. The waiting period is now nearly over.

Regarding the Mac version, what Mac CEaW version is it for? We've not had a Mac specific patch in some time. Currently, we're at v1.06 for the standard game.

Hi,
CEAW Grand Strategy v2.00 when released is a separate application, but you need to have CEAW for Mac v1.06 licensed from Freeverse or from Slitherine
with license installed on your system. CEAW Grand Strategy v2.00 will look for CEAW v1.06 (Mac) to launch. CEAW Grand Strategy v2.00 is compatible
with the PC version CEAW Grand Strategy v2.00 .
This is not a patch to the vanilla version CEAW for Mac. It does not add any new capability to the original application.

The installer is for the PC version, Slitherine has the Mac .dmg files.
It is a disk image where you just drag and drop the application into your Applications folder.
CEAW v1.06 must have a license installed and the game as least opened once. Then CEAW Grand Strategy will function.
If you do not have a licensed copy of CEAW v1.06 for Mac then GS will not fully launch.
This is a dual platform launch of CEAW-GS.
Other changes are that the PBEM, HotSeat game files are saved to /Documents/CEAW Grand Strategy v2.0 . You do not have to go into the application
like the original to get the file to email to your opponent.

It's actually not that simple. Slitherine has to make an installer that will work for the following versions:
* Original Slitherine CeaW v1.12
* Slitherine MH CeaW v1.12
* Matrix CeaW v1.12
* MAC CeaW v1.06
To make it even more complicated they will make a common installer for the vanilla CeaW and GS v2.0 so people who buy CeaW will get both with a single install.
This means we have to test all these versions and verify that the installer they made is correct. We've found some issues and I think they're fixed now.
Remember that it's better that we test all combinations BEFORE GS v2.0 is released because that means less installation issues.
E. g. one issue is that settings.txt has been changed in GS v2.0 and the new one will only be copied if the original one is removed. Since there are so many versions it means the path to the file is different for each version. So we solved this by making a NEW path for GS v2.0 so we don't have to locate the file.
Making a workable installer is not just taking a ZIP file and distributing that file to the players.

Everything is now ready and Slitherine has made a WEB site where you can download the PC and MAC version. We've added several brochures with info about GS v2.0 that will be available on the WEB site as well.
We're now testing the WEB site and so far everything looks fine. The remaining work now is for Slitherine's marketing people to find a nice way to publish the news.
So I think the wait is over any moment now.

The first mail from us was May 7th and we informed that our work is completed. That's certainly less that March and we have definitely not said so 10 times.
So all remaining is to get their priority to do the actual marketing. I can't tell exactly when it's happening because they might have some other games they want to release before they focus on GS v2.0.

I wasn't talking about only this thread, but I won't argue with you on that.
The point is, we're wainting eagerly for this awesome patch, but Slitherine seems to be dragging out the time unnecessarily. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I find that certainly less-than-optimal. It makes me not wanting to buy games from them in the future.
It would be very nice if we could just get an archive of the whole thing and get started already.
