I saw about a week ago that this became available for pre order on Book Depository (about 140 days to go). Is there a list of the armies contained somewhere?

20th July according to amazon.co.ukScrumpy wrote:When is this book due out ?
Very well, particularly the Iroquois. Early on they can be armoured. Later on they can have lots of LF with Musket, and Warrior BGs with Impact Foot,Swordsmen and front rank with Musket. (Or whole BG Bow*, Impact Foot, Swordsmen)And how do the Eastern Woodland Indians fare ?

Not a great success for the Iroquois against Later ECW Royalists with 7 BGs of Cavaliers. The poor old Iroquois could not cope against these - the Bow*, Impact, Foot, Swordsmen Warriors even being disadvantaged in a plantation against the Armoured ones! (The ones with muskets would have coped better as their muskets would have cancelled out armour advantage).rbodleyscott wrote:I am going to try out (mocked up) Iroquois vs a normal (non-colonial) European army tomorrow, to see how viable they might be in open competition. Will let you know how they get on.

Re: Cities of Gold
Surely some of these aren't armies at all but are brands of chocolate bars.

Oh dear, I'd better get on that then, expanding the Iroquois with some musket poses (I assume that the 17th C musket is of the Dutch type, but will check in Heath's book tonight).rbodleyscott wrote:(The ones with muskets would have coped better as their muskets would have cancelled out armour advantage).

1) They would be better in Forests.khurasan_miniatures wrote:At the time the entire Northeast was essentially one giant forest. Would the result be different on a heavily wooded table?
Historically the European colonists did not use mounted to fight the Iroquois, hence my question.
2) Other than the Spanish, whose mounted aren't of great quality, the European colonial armies don't have any mounted at all.
The problem is not in themed games but in an open tournament environment.

Thanks for that, it's reassuring as I have just put in the request for 17th C Eastern Forest Indian models!
They will supplement the existing models in my line. There will be new models for musket armed natives (same dress etc but with Dutch muskets), and there will be new models with tomahawks. Also a chief that is unarmoured.
So gamers can use the existing model range to play the pre-contact/very early contact tribes, as they have bows and there are armoured nobles and the armoured chief. Then I will have new molds made for the post-contact troops, with club or tomahawk only, and with musket and hand weapon. The Iroquois in particular seem to have dropped the bow fairly quickly when the musket was introduced.

The confederate irish cavalry and mounted command are actually being cast now and may be available within the month. Clibinarium is working on the Scottish pike and shot and mounted, as well as mods to the Irish to make Montrose's Irish Brigade, which will be future releases. He's also going to make a few "humblies" for the Highlanders, which though not represented in FoGR may be mixed into the rear of units for more variety.
