GSv2.00.08 (Pre-release v2.00 Hotfix 08) - May 2, 2011

Post by rkr1958 »

I. PC users can download the GSv2.00 Hotfix 08 from here. This hotfix contains ALL the changes that have been made since GSv2.00ap, which was the last full file set release. So it can be applied over the top of GSv2.00ap or any later versions (i.e., GSv2.00.01 - GSv2.00.07). This download is 683KB (i.e., < 1-MB).

II. PC users can also download the full file set for GSv2.00.08 here. This download is 169MB.

III. MAC users will need to get this hotfix from Paul.

IV. GSv2.00.08 (Hotfix 08 ) (May 2, 2011)
1. Renamed the Siberian corps and mech units to 1st ... 4th Shock Army.
2. Upgraded the 2 Siberian corps units to mech corps to make all 4 Shock Armies equal.
3. Altered the code so the word Shock, SHOCK, Shk or SHK is determined as Soviet guards units.
4. Downgraded the Siberian tank corps to regular corps (reason is that we upgraded 2 corps to mech).
5. Halved the start XP for the 2 siberian air and armor units. That means they start with 17 XP instead of 35. This way they won't be guards or have bonus to quality for being above 25.
6. Renamed all German Luftflotte units to Fliegerkorps units, thus all scenarios are updated.
7. Fixed the 1942-1944 scenarios so the Siberian corps and mech corps units on the map are renamed to Shock Armies.
8. Fixed a bug where a convoy adjacent to the destination hex wouldn't move. The root cause of this bug wasn’t obvious but implemented a workaround where a convoy adjacent to the destination hex will automatically deliver the cargo since it doesn't really have to move.
9. Made a fix such that if your purchase Chuikov then he will NOT spawn with the Siberian units when they do. So care must be taken to NOT purchase Chuikov if you wish to get him for free with the Siberian reserves.
10. Added the supply penalty distance to general.txt per game year:
a. SUPPLY_PENALTY_DISTANCE_1939 15 /* 0-15 = supply level 5. 16-30 = supply level 4. 31+ = supply level 3 */
b. SUPPLY_PENALTY_DISTANCE_1940 15 /* 0-15 = supply level 5. 16-30 = supply level 4. 31+ = supply level 3 */
c. SUPPLY_PENALTY_DISTANCE_1941 15 /* 0-15 = supply level 5. 16-30 = supply level 4. 31+ = supply level 3 */
d. SUPPLY_PENALTY_DISTANCE_1944 20 /* 0-20 = supply level 5. 21-40 = supply level 4. 41+ = supply level 3 */
e. SUPPLY_PENALTY_DISTANCE_1945 20 /* 0-20 = supply level 5. 21-40 = supply level 4. 41+ = supply level 3 */
11. Fixed a bug regarding function removeFromMap. This is a vanilla game bug. What the function did was to reset the hex the unit was in to -1 so it didn't show. Each time someone used paradrops, ferry, removal of units from France etc. this function was used. This resulted in too many units being shown in the statistics. This has now been fixed so that the statistics don’t count units in hex -1. Now the number of units are shown correctly.
12. The Russia surprise recovery was increased from 5 to 8 per turn. This means that the Russians will recover efficiency at normal rate after turn 4 after the invasion instead of turn 6 after the invasion.

GSv2.00.07 (Hotfix 07) (April 26, 2011)
1. Moved the transport loop in the Med so units coming out of the loop can't land in the Port Said port in order to minimize the chance that a unit exiting the loop will enter Port Said on the turn that the UK CV in Med is suppose to spawn; thereby preventing the CV from spawing.
2. Made the following major and significant changes to the Russian Siberian reserves:
a. Siberian reserves now spawn on turn 40 (October 20, 1941) so they can be moved on turn 41 (November 9, 1941). This means the Allied player can move the Siberian reserves on November 9th 1941. They can then be in the target area by the end of November. Well, some of them since it takes 2 turns to rail all units without paying for overuse.
b. Changed all Siberian reserve ground units to Guard units, set their initial XP to 35 and their initial efficiency to 80 (which will drop to the max as determined by tech and any leaders).
c. Added Chuikov as a leader on the 1st Siberian Gds Tank Army
d. Changed texts about Siberian reserves and US entry.
e. Increased the max guards per year so it's allowed to get 6 guards units in 1941. New max values are now (0, 0, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15). Since most are Siberian guards it means the number of new guards that can be accumulated isn't so high until you lose some Siberian units or get to 1943+.

IMPORTANT - CRITICAL BUG ON START UP

Image

On startup the 1941 scenario causes the game to crash back to the O/S. As a workaround until I get this resolved you can delete the 1941.scn file in your install and the game will start up. This file is located in */data/scenario/

NOTE: This is NOT the .data file located in your My Documents folder but the .scn file located in the GSv2.00 install itself.

Hi,
I am on my way home and get the hotfix together.
Borger fixed the bug with the scenario crashing.
By the time I get it together I may skip and just send
out the latest.

Please don't use the v2.00.08. Download v2.00.09 instead.

It appears that v2.00.08 can introduce some save game corruption. Worst case you need to replay your turn from a turn completed with v2.00.07 or earlier. Using v2.00.09 should not introduce save game corruption.

I've delete the hotfix and the full file set. I'll reload a full file set for GSv2.00.09 for the benefit of anybody that needs it.

PC users can download the full file set for GSv2.00.09 (Hot fix 09) here. This is 169-MB versus the hotfix itself which is < 1-MB. Detail on Hot fix 09 can be gotten from viewtopic.php?p=221032#221032
