About multiplayer, here a quote from a recent interview on PzC, I think it should answer your question.
We’ll support the old school hot seat mode in case anyone wants to play on the go, without a proper internet connection available. But other than that, Slitherine’s excellent PBEM++ mode will be the only one supported, because in many ways it is superior to traditional PBEM or LAN play.
Using a centralised server provides a lot of advantages: it is very easy to find an opponent (but you can also create a password protected private game in case you want to play with a friend), you will never lose a game in progress, because it is kept by the server, cheating becomes much more difficult because all reloads are tracked by the server, and new features (like tournaments) are being added to server all the time. It also avoids the need to actually send e-mails and attach saved games – this is all handled by the server making this the way to play turn based strategy games.
As for quick exit/minimize - do you think it is a big problem? You can quickly switch to a different app using Alt+Tab, and to exit, you just need to open system menu (or press Esc) and choose "Exit Game". It may be a bit slower, but I think that you should not rush out of the game, or you risk to forget to save your game or something.
servers are closed after a few years, leaving their users.
has happened before with many games. PBEM classic has no such problem in PG you could also post messages on the move.
as we can play the scenarios published by users in PBM. Uploading them to the server?
that functionality have a scenario editor? if you can not play one on one for classic PBEM
Quick out of the game for me is more important than saving the game. But I understand that is not the priority of the majority.

All you can do with stock graphics is use mouse wheel to zoom in and out. In the mods you can use any hex size you want.
I discovered that allowed the mouse wheel to switch between two sizes: too large and too small. could be more intermediate sizes

also discovered that pressing the f key to view the battlefield only. VERY USEFUL ':P'
more comments:
The IA has to improve, in campaign I find no difference between normal and hard mode.
The diference IA in Scenario is to add more enemy units?
IA can be improved : as the units are grouped for mutual protection, As military units move in groups. Dynamic attack and defense (now static, after the first innings when computer loses all aviation ); the computer does not defend the rear positions, even the hexagons of victory, it is easy to slip.
Win in Germany as a German in hard mode and turn left over.
Machinov agree with the enemy aircraft is no match.
IA Improving happen to be a good strategy game to be the best ever
are doing a great job and I sincerely like the game, I hope my constructive criticism will serve to improve
