My first thoughts
I haven't played all the scenario's yet so I can't go too deep in detail about my opinion, but ill do my best.
The performance was fine no framedrops or nothing
my specs: intel duo core 3.16 ghz
4096 mb ram
directx 11
ati radeon hd 5700 series
Graphics = in my opinion the map graphics are a bit repetitive, always the same mountains for example. I didn't like the camera either its way too high, I read in another post that there are 3 camera angles, but I can only find 2 of them when I scroll with the mouse.
The units are nice but again its hard to have a full opinion on them of they don't even have movement animations. Once again I think the colouring of the untis is repetitive. Maybe a bit more colour on the tanks or they add extra fuel depots when they get experience idk?
Or visible damage when the drop under half health?
Sound = obviously there will be a lot of time to work on that but the sounds are again repetitive, just 3 or 4 sounds for a single unit is more then enough imo, same with movement sounds
I think the buttons are too small on the panel, the buy menu is not great either there's so much free space you can simply make it way better for example =
You take the same style of PG2 you get the units in a verticle menu, another menu for a nice big picture of the unit you choose. Another menu for the queue of untis your gonna deploy and maybe to make it awesome you get a another menu for a short description of the history of that particular unit?
Ingame you should be able to right click on a unit and get all the information of that unit like in PG2, it would be nice too to rename your nits like in PG2 again with medals and foto's to give it that historicle touch. Im gonna play another session tomorrow, and if something wasn't clear plz tell me ill try and clarify.
Sincerly

Technically, the Tiger should have 3x the lethal range of a Sherman 75 IIRC, but then others will complain of balancing issues, with the allied player needing rediculous amounts of inventory just to even up the odds.
I think I remember a few people at JP's Panzers over a decade ago complaining that the range-2 hex tanks caused too much over-powering, and such. I didn't quite agree with it though, I though it added quite a lot more strategy to the game (and it did), including ranged att/def modifiers, etc.
It sort of forces the player to protect and build up his PzIVDs, since there'll be a decent pay-off at the end of the line. If he avoids this, then it's his loss.

Experience Ratio = (def exp level + 2)/(att exp level + 2)
Entrenchment Ratio = (def entr rate + 1) /(att entr rate + 1)
I remember the two hex range for tanks.
It was a little too powerful. They were killing machines from a distance. Player is forced to attack to kill the units in front that screened it.
If the 2x range is reduced in combat damage given, that would help allot.
Plus the enemy has to get a bunch of tanks as in real life.
Swarm them with Shermans. 3x Shermans for every 2x range tank.
That makes a fun game as you sacrifice two to get the third one to attack the Heavy tank.
So you need strategy and larger maps to move on.
For Germans it's fun too as you are powerful and kill allot but need to protect the Heavy tanks and create choke points.

1941 Campaign First scenario - Battle for Minsk
Sound issue's =15 cm Nebelwerfer 41, sounds like a regular artillery
Air battle explosions have the same animation as land battles.
Horse brigades make same sound as moving infantery
AA makes same sound as artillery
Graphical issue's
Countryside's, city's forests, rivers airfields, swamps need more variety.
A piece of street East of Mogilev is not connected with the other city.
Fighter bombers return fire with bombs in aerial combat.
Niemen river 14,7, Grodno - volkovyd, it doesn't really look like a bridge.
No overrun function?
imo: infantery don't need the exploding animation at the end, not always, when they get overrun maybe they should idk
Beign able to skip battle animations should be nice.

New ones will be much cooler.
I was brainstorming yesterday before I went to bed, whad made PG2 so awesome and then it hit me.
It were the different cut scenes you got per campaign (battle for poland, start of operation barbarossa, invasion of normandy , ..., ), the real footage of the war.
The great voices (with the german, american, russian accent) at the start of the level that told you what to do. And obviously the experience, the rookie unit that fought in Poland, which you promoted to a Panther division at stalingrad. I remember restarting a match when I lost a few of my experienced units.
The what if idea was awesome too, but I read that woud be integrated in panzer corps so (y) lol
here's is my idea how the buying screen should be
A = Wehmracht Icon, free slots & prestige
B = Different typ of units you can buy, infantery, tank, artillery,...,
C = The different typ of units of the particular class you choose
D = truck or armored truck, for infantery
E = different stats of the unit you choose
F = The queue for the units you already bought
X = Historical information of the particular unit, maybe with a real image of WW2, just to make it more authentic.
ps: Are the maps gonna get cleaned up? Or do I have to look for graphical issues (roads leading to nowhere, bridges look like dustroad, city's not connected, etc?)

- What if Patton was granted permission to keep rolling East as he had demanded?
What if Russia felt much stronger at Berlin, and decided to keep sweeping territory to the West?

This layout is perfect for big screens, but how will it work on small screens? We support everything down to 800x600 screens, and even now Purchase screen is far from perfect there... For this reason I planned to include historical background information as a link to game's library, not embedded in the Purchase screen directly. As for purchase "basket", I don't know... in PzC you don't purchase so many units in a batch, so is it really needed? Anybody else thinks it is important to have?bugspray wrote: here's is my idea how the buying screen should be
