D Day + 3. naught and five as axis
I was wondering how many players here have actually been able to win D day + 3 as the Germans. I have played it 5 times now as the axis and lost it everytime. The best I've managed so far is to stretch it out to the second last turn and twice I've actually lost because all units were destroyed
(a disastrous statistic). the last 3 games I've tried to set up killing zones and then carefully fall back to defences but each time the allies just walk in and own the place. I've played twice i think as the allies now and romped it home each time, i was wondering if any players here have reversed that result ?
I have played this once, as axis, and won. I think it was just through carefully suppressing key units (crocodile, shermans, cromwells) with the wespe. I was losing for half of the game, and when I saw the enemy armour force I was a little worried! I also had a few infantry spotting out tanks so I could keep them suppressed.

I've played this a few times with Amaz_Ed; we both thought we should be able to win with the Axis ... but never managed it. It seemed to boil down to the fact that the Allies could bring strong pressure to bear at 3 points while the Axis could only manage 2 viable defensive groups; and once they started losing units their capability dropped rapidly.
Cheers
D-day plus 3
I havent won as the Axis, but only played as them a few times, but I have lost as the allies and it can definitely be done if you are a good player. One person I played had me back on my heels at that first major village with the hill in the NE corner, it was just a meticulous wearing down of my forces by running and gunning, and what someone else said, instread of targeting infantry with your wespe, which is very deadly, but its the armor you need to worry about first.
winning as the germans in dday plus 3
The opponent that dismantled me in Dday plus 3 when I was the allies did several things really well; first, as tempting as it is to use your wespe on exposed infantry, he concentrated soley on lowering the morale of my tank units. Also he never left his tanks exposed on my next turn, he would put them somewhere where he could flee to the left or to the right one space and be out of the line of sight again. so besides my counter fire, i had to move forward and search out his tanks again. another thing as well is that he didnt leave the at guns in there starting locations, a lot of players for instance will keep the 75mm AT gone in the fortifications on that open hill. He was just good at what he did, so its not impossible to win as the germans. Once the patch comes along that allows reverse, its gonna be that much harder now that your opponent can lurch foward from hiding, and reverse back into hiding. Should really change the dynamics of quite a few of the scenarios that are tank heavy.
