Screen Printing Doesn't Work (Well) in Windows 7

Post by Morbio »

I thought I'd post the ticket for the issue that Cothyso mentions in his AAR post.

I often get problems these range from;
- Totally Black Image Captured
- No image captured (it retains the previous image that I successfully captured). I suspect that the black image is the same, but it has no previous image to display
- Image being captured is out of synch with the replay. i.e. I try to capture an image that I'm seeing in reply (often it is a series of images to demonstrate a potential bug) and the image taken is the one when I've pressed the keys. I can't remember the full details, it coould be an image a few frames earlier or later. I'd have to recreate this to be sure.
All of the above are inconsistent. Sometimes the image is captured OK, sometimes an error described above happens.

To be honest I really try to avoid need a series of images because it is such a pain in the ****.

Anyone else get these?

Cothyso, any feedback from you?

EDIT: I had a feeling I'd posted this before and I had. Here's a link to my previous post with more specific details viewtopic.php?t=21353
iainmcneil wrote:Cothyso - if there is an issue with screenshots please post to tech support. Print screen is a system function not related to the game. If its not working it is not somethign we can do anything about.

Adding an in game screen dump is possible but takes some time so we'd rather invest the time in new features.

I only stumbled on this by accident so please post any follow up to tech support.
You can't complain that no one posts the problem in Tech Support... although I could complain no one replied to my post ;)

There is no fix from us for this issue. It does seem to be a windows 7 issue. Selecting shift and print screen twice tends to clear the buffer and then collect the right one. Keith

Hi,

For me is working very well in Windows 7 Home Premium. Maybe is a problem related to the graphic card driver?

Not possible that it could be the graphics card or driver or any combination of the two. Using in-game screen-capture programs is a silly thing to do, especially since there are free capture utilities that can do much more. I doubt if game developers take much time adding this feature or really care if it works or not. They know that most people use screen-capture programs and rarely use the in-game feature.

Hi Alan,

I think, if I understood right, is about usual Print Screen function from Windows. FoG, if I'm right, doesn't have an in-game capture feature.

Cheers, Gabriel
