intercept moves

Post by deadtorius »

Had an odd situation that is not covered in the rules today.
Royalist pike and shot declares a charge on a unit of parliament pike and shot. Parliament has a superior pike and shot that wants to intercept, however in their path by about 1/8 of a base is a unit of Royalist firelocks. The firelocks are 1 1/2 MU away from the Parliament troops, does their presence affect the intercept? Couldn't find anything in the rules to say it would be cancelled etc so we moved the chargers to within a poodle hair of the firelocks. Sound about right?

Not entirely clear of the situation. remember if not a flank or rear charge intercepts actually do NOT touch any one. So if someone friend or foe is blocking the intecept from getting into the path, then no intercept.

But do intercepts have to move the full 2 MU? Or could an intercepting BG "stop short" by a bit of a MU so it does not hit an enemy BG partly in the way of the intercept?

Moving the full 2MU to intercept, my right corner of the intercepting BG would have hit the corner of a different enemy BG that was not charging. I stopped short of hitting it. Then the charging enemy BG that triggered the intercept came in and hit the interceptors and it's original target.

As Nik says Up to. so that can be less at the player's discretion. But note they still ahve to end up in the path of the charge.

Thank you for the clarification. I had assumed "up to" meant anywhere in between as well. So we played it right.
