The parthians shot so many arrows into the sky that the sun was blocked out and we were forced to fight in darkness. The armies of the Ptolemies were forced to feel their way towards the enemy, not an easy feat when you carry a 16' long spear. Try as hard as we did, we only felt the enemy presence after they had ducked under our pike points and were stabbing my troops in their guts.
As a last great act of defiance we did attempt to sack the Parthian camp in a desperate search for candles so we could light the darkness, but it was too late. Not a great army to be facing mass bows and running away types...

An interesting summary. It will be interesting to see if TGM causes a blackout versus the Pyrrhic armydeadtorius wrote:The parthians shot so many arrows into the sky that the sun was blocked out and we were forced to fight in darkness. I'm back, if a little dusty after the mandatory croc wrestling. As to your panzer reserve .... I see 4 groups of metal beasts. Do you have more?TheGrayMouser wrote:But then he might see my hidden reserve of panzers!!
Actually i couldnt take a pic if i wanted since you cant peek into a game when its the other players turn and Claymore appears to be biking across the outback at this time.

Those are the faux ones , similiar to the mock blow up doll tanks the aliies had in Britain prior to D-Day:)claymore wrote:I'm back, if a little dusty after the mandatory croc wrestling. Well I got back yesterday and thekraken and I had a real ding-dong battle.hidde wrote:Triarius wrote this in the Slith Tournament thread:thekraken wrote:Hello

"Iain and possible opponents - apologies I joined the tournament but now have to be away until the 19th March - FoG games not possible."
It was on the map with the scrub and broken ground dotted hill one side of the map and open ground on the other.
We both went for Syracusan allies but the kraken took HF with swarms of LF and I took MF with maximum armoured and prtoected cavalry. This made the break points 65 for me and 82 for the kraken.
My cav and lights were in the open ground vs the krakens swarms of lights our infantry faced off in the hills. My MF having the advantage over his heavies on the scrub covered hills and steep slopes where we started fighting but as they kept pursuing into open ground (bloody follow ups) they kept getting cut up by the krakens HF. Both of us were very canny in avoiding rout throughs so it became tit for tat on the hills as MF won on steep slopes and scrub hexes then lost on open ground.
On the open flank my cav/LF mix herded and beat his LF/LC mix for as long as they could catch them and the UK Carthaginians made up the difference in points - 17 more had been needed. Catching became difficult as his units routed away and mine pursued.
So how did it end.
Well with only one combat left in my turn the score was kraken 85/82 and Triarius 64/65.
That one combat was, for me, a fragmented mercenary scutari unit, now in open ground, but directly adjacent to our inspired general attacking his Liby-Phoenician armoured cav C-in-C unit which had already been attacked from two other hex-sides was below 75% strength but still steady.
So what do you think - did it finish
UK 65/65 and Europe 85/82 - Draw
or
UK 64/65 and Europe 85/82 - UK win
A great game whatever - will tell you the result later

Any news on the remaining 3 matches from the 3rd / 4th play off?
I'm hoping that we can wrap this up and publish the final positions before the end of March.
In the next few days I'll post the details of the April-May competition. It will be similar format but with different armies and terrain mixes. Each captain may want to liaise with their teams to see if any changes are required... maybe some people may want a break... maybe some new blood is needed... maybe you have a queue of people that want to join and you want to rotate. The choice will be yours.
More later...
