I have been playing a lot and reading even more from the forums - some people do a marvelous job at doing the ready comparison to PG and I find those topics fascinating. But I was to speak on just the game point of view, taking away any comparison and just going by my gaming sense and does it "feel" like WWII combat.

When I look at the visuals I find they are attractive to the eye, could be more so I think but certainly don't do disservice to anyone. So visually I think the game works, but could also be improved upon.
The mechanics of the game work from the point of moving around and making things go, certainly allows for rapid start - quick flash to bang time you might say.

Then we move in to the combat, I think over all it feels ok, I do find the artillery underpowered, when you consider that Artillery caused over 50percent of the casualties the lack of direct impact has me pondering why. I don't think that this holds true to a "historic" feel to the game, and there are hundreds of ways to cut to the chase but for me, it doesn't "Feel" right. I am not saying that a unit should lose 5 of 10 strength points each time artillery fires, but I do believe it has to become more effective - but that is just my opinion. Terrain doesn't seem to have the same effects as I would have thought but I haven't really gone to far into the "feel" of terrain yet as I am experimenting with units and combinations to see how it all roles into each other. I also think that Armour should get an explotation move if they destroy a unit - again simply a suggestion but one I find appropriate to the type of warfare we are looking at.

Please understand my points are getting more into the feel that mechanics, I think it is an important combination to attain to get the right appeal and the game is very close as it stands right now.

Agree with you on the armor exploitation...great idea.

Artillery is tougher...I was surprised that arty in PC was weaker than PG, but frankly, it seemed way too strong in PG, so I think this isn't a bad thing. As discussed in another thread, artillery should be about suppression (making way for an assault by ground units), more than a unit destroyer.
