How to Dismount French Knights in DAG List from SOA

I am building a DAG Medieval French (Later) army from SOA and note that as my cursor moves over the French knights that they toggle to dismounted types. So how do I get them to be dismounted for the battle? Do I build them this way or can they dismount:

1. Before a battle

AND/OR

2. During a battle

If my memory serves me right they would be either mounted OR dismounted for a battle but would not dismount during the battle.

So how can I dismount them? Can I build the list with them already dismounted or do I have dismount them during the deployment segment?

IIRC you right-click the unit during deployment to select the alternative troop type.

Unfortunately, you will pay more for the mounted knights and won't get a refund when you dismount them. I usually take already dismounted knights for that reason.

Just wave a stick at them and they normally fall off!!
