Sub General

Post by gerryb »

I'm still trying to refine my Later Carthaginian list. ( after my 2nd game )

I'm allowed IC/FC/TC in the list and would like to get a 4th general in there.

I understand that it would have to be a SuB General which in turn would mean taking an allied unit.........

the list allows Numidian and Spanish allies, can I take a Spanish unit from my list and call it allied ( until a spanish list is available.) ????

Sub Generals have to stay with thier own units so would I lose this General automatically if the alled unit broke?

Also

What percentage of points are people taking in Generals in thier lists? :D

Allied generals can only affect allied troops and vice versa. You never lose a general due to anything breaking - only by getting a sword through the gut, arrow in the eye etc. he may howevre fidn himself useless if all his troops have gone home.

If you take an ally you get a separate allied contingent with a separate list for it - this comes with the main numdian list for example. We cold give you a suggested Spanish or Numidian ally.

Most people at Leeds had an IC and 2 TCs or 4 generals without and IC if that helps. My prefered are IC/TC/TC or FC/TC/TC/TC or going cheap at TC/TC/TC with great troops.

Cheers

Some misunderstanding here, I think.

"C-in-C: IC/FC/TC" just means that the C-in-C can be any of these.

Most armies (including the Carthaginians) are allowed a C-in-C and up to 3 sub-generals who can usually be FCs or TCs.

Sub-generals are sub-generals - they belong to the main army. Ally generals are ally generals.

There is no need to take an ally general to get a 4th general.

If I have got the right person then Gerry is not from a DBM background, whilst most of us ex DBM'ers understand this concept, I think perhaps a bit more clarity would be useful for those of us who are not.

My immediate thought is that this would go in the army list - but since there are army lists in the main rule book then I think something needs to be mentioned there.
