Movement Question

Post by kilroy1 »

In a recent multiplayer game of Strasbourg 357AD I could not move into the hex the arrow is pointing to. An enemy unit had just been routed (and eliminated) in said hex by another unit. The moving unit was Armored/Lance/Sword/Drilled/Superior. Is this a bug, or have I misunderstood the mechanics of the game? :?

Hmm, cant say if this is a bug or not but I have run into this before.
? Was the leader that now cant attack involved in melee with the routed (now vaporized) enemy bg ??
Did the disruped cavalry that caused the rout impact combat that turn? or did it destroy it in melee?
Did the leader change facing once theenmy bg was destroyed?

The leader was adjacent to the enemy unit that was routed/eliminated when it was impacted by the disrupted cavalry unit with a rear attack and destroyed. The leader had not moved or changed facing yet.

Hmm, the only thing i can think is that the game is basically saying the vaporized unit is still "there" and thus you have no path to move to charge the other enemy bg(only because the unit you want to charge was engaged in melee with the vaporized bg) My guess is if you had another battle group that could move thru that now vacant hex it would be allowed to attck the fragged bg ..... I could be wrong though but when I have noticed this it usually does involve units piled up and a Bg being destroyed

Likly only Hexwar knows if this is a feature or a bug

I've seen this behavior as well and suspect it is a bug.

I recently encountered this is my Companions Cup game versus Claymore. I had routed an enemy pike unit, but it wouldn't let me move one of my pike units into the space. However, it would let me move a different pike unit into the space so it can't be because there is an 'invisible' unit there.

What i meant was is the unit not allowed to move into the vacated space was likly connected in melee to the vaporized enemy bg....(it just didnt resolve its combat PRIOR to another frindly causing the rout and destruction) at least that is my memory of when this bug/feature occurs...
I will see if i can recreate it w the scanrio editor

I was sad enough to take a screenshot at the time.
