Trouble Updating from 1.5? Read this!

We've noticed that there are some cases where people who update directly from the original installer using the the France installer, or the standalone 1.5 patch installer cannot then update to 1.5.1 (or beyond). This is caused by a missing updater version. You can grab a full 1.5.1 installer which will update any version of the game from:

http://www.slitherine.com/files/bbc_ba/ ... v1.5.1.exe

Or you can get going by dropping the new UPDATER2.EXE into your game folder (assuming you are already running version 1.5). You will need to allow this EXE on any firewalls you are running. The game should then update correctly.

The download link is:

The EXE inside the zip should be placed inside the game install folder (the same place the UPDATER.EXE file already exists).

I'm afraid I still don't know where to place UPDATER2.EXE, as I don't see an UPDATER.EXE folder in the first place, nor an 'Install' folder, after checking all folders and subfolders in the game.

I did find an 'uninstall' folder though, but I suspect that's not what I need...

So where exactly do I place UPDATER2.EXE?

My current version (bought online yesterday) is BA+BF v1.50. (see my other post in 'updater not working')

On a side note, maybe it's better to also provide a manual link to patches. Having more hassles with automatic patching than with manual patching kind of defeats the purpose... (I never had difficulties with FOG automatic patching though).

Edit: I set UPDATER2.EXE as an exception in my Windows Firewall. All I need to know now is exactly where to place it in the game folder (I can't find a UPDATER.EXE, nor an 'Install' folder), as the game still won't update. Thanks.

Just place it in the Battlefield Academy root, where the BA executable is. In my case, that was:

e:\program files\slitherine\battlefield academy\battlefield academy\

That's also where the old updater.exe is. It doesn't have an icon, though - maybe that's why you couldn't spot it? There is no subdirectory for the updater file.

i've put in the new updater, , do we delete the old one?.. it's been a real pain in the arse, cos it reset all my campaign games, which are now locked again!.. i've completed them, so it's no big deal, but it did effect a couple of turns of refusing to upload to server during m.p. .. just wanting it working reliable again.. you know, 'good old bessy@ .. not king tigertastic!!

Installing the patch shouldn't have affected your saves etc at all - they are stored in a different folder. You don't need to delete any old files.

If you are at 1.5.1 then you should have no troubles, but you do need to update.

Trying to up date the game BA which I downloaded last week * Version 1.3 (1,31?) to 1.51 Replaced also the launcher to new version. Game still will not update. Do I need to up date all the previous versions and why wasn't the gane I down loaded last week ONLY @ 1.3 (1.31?) -don't know why it says both on my title screen.

GAME DOESN'T PROMPT CHECKING FOR UP DATES.
DOWN LOADED PATCH TO DESK TOP AND TRIED AGAIN AND SOMEHOW IT WORKED BUT DURING THE UPDATE THEY WERE VARIOUS MESSSAGES INDICATING SOME FILES WERE NOT FOUND THAT BEING THE CASE THE GAME NOW IS OPERATING AT THE 1.51 VERSION EVERYTHING IS FINE NOW.
