Just bought the game, one question....

Post by schwarm »

I thought the subject was interesting and enjoy Battlefield Academy, so I took the plunge on this one.

After installing it, I noticed that there is a "Grand Strategy" (GS) expansion , and downloaded and installed that, also.
In addition, there is a "BJR" mod that can be added to the GS version.

It seems like every game after the tutorial is an extended campaign, so once I start playing,
I will invest a lot of time in a given set up. So my question is, what do others suggest playing after the tutorial?
I would like to get into the game, but I'm not sure which variant/scenario would be the best for a new player.

The BJR mod was an early version of GS. It's not supported anymore. GS v1.07 is the latest official one. Later GS 2.00 will be released.

A game against a human. The GS mod does not make any improvements to the AI, rather it is designed for PBEM play. So my suggestion is to jump into a game with another player newish to the game. You can pick up some bad habits against the AI, I've learned.

If you wish to play against the AI, my understanding is that the AI has a harder time in GS than it does in the vanilla version of CEAW so you should stick to the vanilla version for solo play.

Welcome to the forum. If you find you have more than one question, folks here are very helpful.

Thanks for the replies. I intend to play against the AI initially, so I guess I'll play the non-GS version, maybe as the allies in '44.
That should not take too long and and provide opportunities for attacking.
