Defensive battles

Post by burnsibub »

Hi
I am wondering if anyone can help.
I am trying to create a defensive battle i.e side 0 is in possession of three victory flags at the start of the game and must hold them for x amount of turns.

I am using the slith victory points plugin, set the ownership/state to side 0, capture 0, defend 3, turn limit 15

I start to test the game and it comes up with 'objectives completed' on turn 1 immediately.

Am I being dim?

cheers for any response

Do you have any mission script file running as well as the plugin? Could it be triggered from there?

cheers for the quick reply!

Nope, no script, nothing fancy just the plain old bam file created by the editor.

It's a common issue, though I'm not sure how to manage it. If you want a defensive mission where you need to hold N flags then you need to set the Capture value to 1 more than the defend value to prevent you from winning because you already have all the flags.

There is a tutorial which might have some other tips you could find useful:

Hope that helps!

Cheers

Hi Pip

yes I have read that thread (and pdf) as it says set the capture flags one more than the defend, trouble is with that as there is only three victory flags in the battle you cannot win (I have tried). What I could do is (as I have seen with other battles) set a fourth flag for side 1 and get the defending side (0) to capture it though its a bit unrealistic for this scenario.

Hmmm - it should allow you to win if you get to the turn limit with that number of flags held?

I will check out the logic.

Cheers
