Light Foot pursuing evading enemy

Post by mceochaidh »

I had an odd result in a LoEG game. A light foot slinger charged an enemy light foot archer. The archer evaded. The slinger pursued up a hill and attacked a heavy foot spear BG frontally that was in good order. I have not seen this before. Since light foot cannot willingly charge heavy foot, I am wondering if this is a bug that has something to do with the logic in following up an evading enemy?

This does happen although rarely, not sure if some other criteria needs to be met for them to do this though.....

In an enemy LF unit is next to an HF unit and your LF charges said enemy LF which evades, it is possible to force a charge on the HF. Hapens all the time.

In this case, if I am remembering correctly, the enemy LF was 2 hexes from its spear HF which was up two grades of a hill. By the way, neither my opponent or I have seen this map before. It is almost entirely composed of multiple grade hills, with about 25% rough terrain.

Was the HF on a steep hill? I think the LF can engage HF if it is Fragged or Very Disordered, or something that gives it a fair chance of winning... and HF on Steep Hills are very disordered.

It was not a steep hill and the enemy spear was not disordered or disrupted and had the uphill advantage.

In the same game, a poor slinger unit with normal orders to evade stronger enemy decided to fight against enemy javelin light foot with an average rating. I guess this does happen from time to time.
