Yes.....we secured our southern territory, our western territory, took complete control of the great lakes, wiped out tons of Indians whom were hostile and allied with the British, British stopped what they were doing to our commerce and kidnapping American sailors. We achieved our war aims (except for conquering Canada, which was a silly pipe dream anyways and then some).....it was a resounding victory.....sure our Capitol was occupied, but Vienna and Berlin were occupied as well....nobody says the prussians and Austrians lost...Remarkable how some people see it different IMO

You really should know your own history: You got Florida from Spain in 1819 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adams%E2%8 ... ADs_Treaty
What you were after in 1812 was Canada. The Western frontier was demarcated much later. Remarkable!

Haaa!

I've taken actual college courses on this war taught by west point professors.
You should learn your history. The Americans chased the British out of Florida (Brits said they'd protect it) except for a small renegade garrison.....The Americans were able to operate within Florida with impunity, eventually leading the Spanish to see the writing on the wall.
The Western Frontier, Tecumseh was killed, the resistance of the Eastern Indian tribes was shattered, save for the Seminoles and their time was coming soon.
If anything, the failed invasion of Canada was a good thing for us. Goals and objectives of war can change once a war starts and it was recognized after the second attempt that it was futile....We focused on killing indians, staving off the brits and naval operations. We slaughtered them at New Orleans, which, granted was after the war. Had the war continued, the Brits had already shot their wad at lake Champlain and New Orleans.

Remarkable that you think the United States lost the War of 1812 or that result of the War was not far more beneficial to the United States than it was for the British.

Sorry Brits 0-2 for you, can't beat us and we saved your ass twice

In faaaaaact, you tell me what the British actually won and what the Americans actually lost....this will flummox the 1812 deniers every time.

The Canadians won the right to be called Canadians I guess, but is that really such a good thing? It just means nobody else in the world gives a damn what you think, it means you get crappy government health care.....not much else....much better to be an American than a lackey of some king thousands of miles away.

With comments like these you do no favours to yourself or anybody else in these forums. An attitude like yours tends to lead to the stereotype, which is mostly incorrect, of Americans being loudmouthed arrogant braggarts.

To quote a famous American in a great western film - That'll be the day!,
Seriously though I am not sure the scale set for these rules is small enough for the War of 1812.

We're really looking at battles of 15-30,000 per side.
None of the battles in the War of 1812 are even close.
