Mine was only a hope, just to avoid the Panther Generalissimo in the final match!

never rule out anything to do with Pantherboy!
Indeed
And he has just won 47/75 vs 68/66 - sorry team.

I had the opportunity (terrain & initial deployment) to make it a closer score but not the ability
To be fair we didn't really get to see how the match would of ended up due to some dismal rolling by Triarius. He lined up my MF w/LS with his MF impact a number of times and when he charged in they seemed to forget to bring their swords. It should of been a much closer race.

A snap shot from our fight until now....

The SurenIndo Parthian are in a rather tight spot. Both armies have lost 24 points so far but the Roman have
a numerical superiority in the field! Both armies have rotated 90 degrees and a few (4-5) MF of the roman allies
have been surrounded and soon will be crushed. But they have extracted a significant toll on their enemies.

On the center the remaining cataphracts face a host of HF and are on the verge of either breaking them or being
surrounded.
Every thing depends on 2 light horses that must stand firm and for godess FORTUNA to change sides....
Bloody hell i am running out of troops!!!!!

"It's difficult to say now who will gain the laurels at the end of the day but, at the moment, the Ptolemaic legitimate soldiers rejoyce in their heart for the great victories of their superb allies in the other matches while the usurper's army has probably lost its morale!" -- Lysimachos

The great dictator's army has the advantage of that terrible map so many of us have seen: a huge hill in the center topped by cliffs and backed by a long strip of trees. The mountain is close to the enemy's start line so no hope of taking it with my MF. Yeach! Sick of this map.

But, undeterred, the populist forces of Deeter have assembled opposite the dictator's Ptolemaic pikes and we're not going home until the Egyptian despot is deposed. We shall be free!

With very few preliminary losses, the opposing phalanxes have come to grips. The battle will be decided here I think.

After the first impact the usurper's phalanx is wavering but their Guard Phalangites aren't still comitted in the fray.
Actually the result is Lysimachos (3/54) Dyteros (9/53).
Let's hope the best! :)

Match 1 (Very Open): Ptolemaic (Greek) Davouthojo 6/58 vs Ptolemaic (Greek) IanIOW 4/60

A very orderly battle up to this point. Davouthojo anchored his left flank on a lake and wheeled out from the table edge to face me. I marched my army in good order diagonally across the battlefield from the opposite corner of the map to meet him. So far a huge line of pikes are facing each across a gap of 4 hexes with the LF playing inbetween them. Both cavalry forces faced each other near the lake and the ianiow cavalry blinked first and commenced the battle. Bringing some pike with them they have gained a slight advantage but the davout reserve pike are close by and with join battle next turn.

This looks like being a straightforward 20+ unit pike clash, both sides waiting on the result of the cavalry battle on the wing with the inevitable threat of a flanking that will follow.

Keep it up, petran1978 & Lysimachos. I sounds like you have had a good start!
Remeber, your place in the final is assured. Relax and play for pride and glory! :D

Ps-Morbio, how is it decided which team will be home team in the final? Random or based on results in the first round?
As you pointed out, it can be a slight advantage to be home team.

In the Pyrrhic civil war it is pretty even. Both sides are moving around the central island of trees looking for some sort of positional advantage.

General Morbio was pleased to catch a LF that had just evaded a LF charge but was out of puff and couldn't evade when another LF charged it's rear (and Disrupted itself - go figure  ), luckily a nearby LH took the LF to fragged and destroyed it the following turn.

General Claymore, wiped the smug look off Morbio's face when 2 of his LF with LH support charged 2 LF and disrupted them. They are now in dire straits (money for nothing and... ooops, sorry  ) and will probably go down soon. The only question is how many of the Morbian LH and cavalry get sucked into a battle they can't win.

In the meantime, General Morbio's MF have started to attack the trees to dislodge Claymore's MF that have set up a defensive position.

This is going to be a long game....

Maybe, until the final matches, we are lucky and LT get released and we can use the new mechanism of choosing the battle field.

Indoparthians Suren 35/47
Roman 33/59

Those two light horses did their job....unfortunately they are also dead.

I think in a couple of turns those Romans will get their victory and my leader will ride away sworing Revenge....

Sorry team
