Moving into contact to join as an overlap

Post by imanfasil »

The Rules say you can shift 1/2 a base sideways to make this happen... so :

If I am located behind my own unit by 1/4th to 1/8th a base width, facing the correct direction, and easily within movement distance of my legal overlap position? Can I shift that small fraction of a base as part of the move to enter the overlap position?

Or

Is the shift only allowed at the end of the move if I can legally wheel, turn, maneuver myself to a position that leaved me 1/2 a base away.

Thanks,
James

As you can always shift to avoid friends, it isn't necessary to use the shift that allows you to join melee as an overlap.
