Spear Choice

Post by Fluffy »

I've got the option to take compulsory spear as protected offensive or armoured defensive,
their role is to support some other foot.
Which do you think is more useful\versatile?

Armoured defensive. They won't charge off from their support position, they are hard to shoot up. They are just not good charging anything. But if they survive the charge they are very good.

putting the arg into argumentative, except for the lists I check where there is no argument!

Thanks.
I suppose that if they charge with with whatever they are supporting and\or knights they should be fine.

Would it be a good idea to deploy them deep and narrow say (2 wide 4 deep) to reduce impact combat?

Not unless you are planning to charge. Their advantage is they can go wide, fill a lot of space and not leave it until you want them to. Armoured foot are hard to shoot down. If you think you may need to charge in support they will hopefully be at the extremity of the impact so should suffer less. Charge the shock units first, using a wheel to fill the space they charge into where possible.
