Multiplayer Challenge scenario files

Post by Brigz »

Someone mentioned this on another thread and I can't seem to find it:

Is it true that when issuing a multiplayer challenge, that only the challenger needs to have the scenario files installed on his computer? Is this true for Custom scenarios as well as Historical?

The reason I'm asking is that I've changed the file name of some custom scenarios to eliminate the "Battle of..." heading.

It is definaltely true for the custom scenarios, as a matter of fact i am currently getting slapped around by a player that posted one of Stockwellpetes 17th c battles that i have never downloaded.

Hmm the historical one not sure but am am guessing no as those come with the expansion packs.

Thanks Mouser. I've also noticed something else. Previously, for Custom scenarios, the scenario folder name and the scenario name in the *.fogsg file had to be identical. This no longer seems to be the case. This is good since it allows more diversity in the organization of Custom scenarios. This is especially true for Stockwellpetes prolific scenario skills. I can organize his battles by campaign if I need to.

Pretty sure you can play the historical ones as well, as long as the challenger has the expansion.

Far as I can figure (I rarely play anything other than DAG), the scenarios are meant as 'teasers', so that players can have a look at the various expansions before deciding to buy.

Though in this, and everything else I post, I could just as easily be monumentally wrong
