Pursuit when enemy base removed ?
We had a situation come up (twice as it happened) last night where a 2 base BG was fighting two enemy BGs (lined up next to each other), one base fighting each. The 2 base BG lost a base in combat so autobroke. Once the base is removed, one of the BGs is thus left with no enemy in contact. Do both the BGs pursue the broken unit or just the one that it in contact with the remaining base ?

The friendly BG will not pursue if it was fighting a second unbroken enemy BG in frontal contact, but it will pursue if the only other enemy it was fighting was one where the friendly BG was only an overlapper.Polkovnik wrote:Is that correct ? Yes, but that is covered by the rule that a BG will only pursue if all of its close combat opponents rout. So why is the exception required ?batesmotel wrote:The friendly BG will not pursue if it was fighting a second unbroken enemy BG in frontal contact, but it will pursue if the only other enemy it was fighting was one where the friendly BG was only an overlapper.Polkovnik wrote:Is that correct ? Check out the FAQs - number 16 - 2nd example. We had a situation come up (twice as it happened) last night where a 2 base BG was fighting two enemy BGs (lined up next to each other), one base fighting each. Hopefully this should confirm that both BGs pursue.

The exception just clarifies that the enemy BG that you are only fighting against as an overlap is not counted as a close combat opponent in this case even though you are rolling combat dice against it.Polkovnik wrote:Yes, but that is covered by the rule that a BG will only pursue if all of its close combat opponents rout.
