Wars of the Roses armies in the DAG . . .

Post by stockwellpete »

There are five from this period of history in the DAG . . .

Two points really -

i) it is possible to pick an army without any retinue billmen in it, instead a player can load up with dismounted knights. This is unrealistic. Could the DAG selection be amended so players have to choose at least 6 retinue billmen and cannot choose more than 6 dismounted knights please? Some armies fielded at that time contained lots of shire levies too so perhaps the upper limit for them could be increased to 10 as well.

ii) the images for the dismounted knights and the artillerymen are inappropriate. By the mid to late 15thC knights were increasingly wearing plate armour and shields were becoming obsolete. Oh - and the gunners were not Turkish either!

Thanks.

It's best to post issues like this in the support forum rather than in the main one since that is where Slitherine/Hexwar watches most closely for issues to be addressed. The number of dismounted knights/retinue billmen is based on the FoG TTm lists so if you would like to see a change there you should post in the FoG TT 2.0 forum viewforum.php?f=114 or the Player designed lists forum viewforum.php?f=73 about this issue. I believe the assumption is that BGs of knights are composed of a mix of knights as a front rank with retinue billmen filling out the rest of the BG so does not represent purely dismounted knights.

Once we move to the earlier medieval armies we aim to refresh all the knight images so that up to 1430 most will have cloth barding and a mix of armour the later lists will mainly be plate barding and armour. A few months away though :-( Keith

That's OK - it is a very welcome development. :D
