What are the details of this comp?
What indeed

I have added a note to your thread on the FOGR forum. Basically, ask Alasdair.

late October – Roll Call – High Wycombe – Singles?

This is likely to move - May is being looked at I believe.

And I find this elsewhere:
7th/8th May is confirmed, which is nice :)

Sadly not for me - bugger! :(

Pete

As I posted last year, the BHGS ranking tournaments will be those Pete Dalby can't make - to give someone else a chance...

You did not believe me...

This clash is rather unfortunate to say the least - but unavoidable - as they are both great events.

I'll probably just tip in favour of Campaign.

Indeed, I like both events and run the FoG tournament at the Expo but want to play at Campaign.... :?

I am a little concerned that if Roll Call goes to early May we will have a clash between Roll Call and Campaign in 2012 which is not a good plan.

Well they know about the possibility so there is plenty of time to plan to avoid for 2012. Shouldn't be beyond the wit of man - oh hang on, wargamers involved ... :?

We just need a video hook up so Hammy can oversee the Games Expo from sunny Milton Keynes . Shades of virtual-Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory

It might be a case of finding someone else to do the honours in Birmingham :( As I am not going to be there in my Treefrog role I am leaning towards Campaign.

Assuming they do it the same way as 2010, they will present 6 themes (each with 6-7 lists to choose from) to be voted on by last year's teams. The three most popular will be run, each team member picks a different theme to play in.

Nothing yet, but last years selected themes can be seen here http://mkws.org.uk/index.php?id=17

Peter, It had never occurred to me until you mentioned it but Sheldon does remind me of a certain wargamer... :)

I can now confirm that the BHGS Oxford Doubles will take place on 3rd and 4th
September 2011 (last weekend of the School's Summer Holidays) at Fitzharrys
School, Northcourt Road,Abingdon, Oxon, OX14 1NP.

A 900 point FOG AM Doubles competition will be held.

It has not been decided what the basis for the competition should be. Rather
than an open competition we are thinking of a themed one. The problem is
selecting one that most players have an army for but trying to keep it out of
the medieval period.

So we would like to know what theme players who would come to the doubles want
to play.

Do you want: -

1. An open competition

2. A themed competition based round "Swifter than Eagles"

3. A themed competition based round Alexander and his Successors.

4. The fall of Byzantium

5. The rise of Islam

6. The Greek City States and their enemies

Or do you have a favoured theme?

I will be at Usk so will be happy to hear your views if you are there . If not post your comments.

Something pre 1150 so the armoured knights get a run out, when cavalry can still fight knights or shoot them to soem effect and armoured foot still do OK. But not too many LH. So how about campaigns of the vikings. You get NW Europe, Russia, Italy, Byzantium, and more that I can't think of yet.

Can someone in power move the post with the chronological listing to the top of the thread and then keep it up to date. If you gave me the power to edit other peoples posts I'd glady do it, and other things, myself.

It's not possible to move posts around in a thread, as far as I'm aware. Only edit a post, which would make the first post a little odd.

The best thing would be to start a new thread called something sensible like "UK Calendar". If you can't make it sticky or an announcement, I can do that for you. You would then have editing control over that post indefinitely, I assume.
