Possible to Keep Units in a Formation

Is it possible through scripting to keep various units in a formation, such as 4-5 units in a line? Can they be forced to move forward in these various formations?

Also, can flanking (directional) fire be made to have different morale effects for infantry?

Allowing the formation logic to be scripted is on my todo list, but it requires quite a bit of reworking of the logic.

IIRC flanking fire on infantry provides them with less cover and thus more potential damage, and should reduce their morale by more. Although I could be wrong.
