A square peg in a round hole
A normal terrain piece must fit inside a 12MU diameter circle, my questions is what is the dimensions of the biggest square or rectangle shape you can fit in the circle? The reason I ask is I want build a village with either a square or rectangle footprint and I would like to know what is maximum size I can make it and still be counted a one terrain selection.

It was better to leave disputing about the faith to the theologians and just run argumentative non-believers through with the sword (Louis IX).

To avoid doing any maths (this method works for any shape of terrain piece):BlackPrince wrote:A normal terrain piece must fit inside a 12MU diameter circle, my questions is what is the dimensions of the biggest square or rectangle shape you can fit in the circle? Draw a 12 MU circle on a piece of paper
Draw a rectangle (or whatever shape you want yor terrain) that fits in the circle.
Use this as a template for your village.
Is the question you meant to ask:
"What is the largest rectangular area I can make it and still be counted a one terrain selection?"
In that case the answer would be the square that just fits in the circle.

Thanks for the serious answers.
As the first items in my music collection were made of vinyl records and cassette tapes, which is why I can not remember my high school algebra to do the maths for myself.
