Several good threads on this earlier and the answer was yes they can. Apparently the better solution is to only charge from one side and then they are forced to evade away from the charger and towards the other and stop 1 MU away from the other unit. At that point is is kind of a restricted zone sandwich as niether restricted zone would allow them to turn 90 and get away from a charge on the following turn.

My game plan in the tournament next week is to just not see any LH. If I smell smoke I'll assume its my camp burning. If you don't acknowledge them they can't annoy or hurt you!

Yes, was the conclusion from other threads (where I previously raised exactly this example).

As long as the LH have space to fit in, they can do a 90 degree turn and "squirt out" (the official phrase) one or other side. Perversly, the LH get a more efficient move as they have had a free turn. Whereas the charging BGs must spend MUs wheeling to chase the LH.

If only one BG charges, the LH are forced to evade towards the other enemy BG and are more likely to get caught.

Still depends on how the target LH is facing, if they are charged in flank or rear they have no choice but to evade away from the direction of the charge, so that will determine a set direction they must evade to. So if one of your units X or Y is facing the targets flank or rear you can force them towards the other enemy, they stop short, get caught in the rear, drop cohesion turn to face and now your other unit can flank or rear charge them next turn and they are as good as dead meat.

That was the whole point of the question.
To demonstrate that the best way to handle it was to charge the LH with the one BG to the rear.

Charging with both allows for the 90 degree escape move.

You are assuming only one charge, not both as he asked.
