Yep, that is not bad for an Essex boy. Some impressive names. Only person to get more in an Ashes 5 test series was one Bradman, D.
If Cook becomes a better batsman that that list, I will be impressed.
Idle thought, though some of these scored lots of runs in the series, wonder who has talked about them the most since?

Let's put a positive spin on this one. I was just checking the records and if we look back to 1981 then England pulled a win put of the bag when they were still well behind and an innings down with only 3 wickets left. The only difference I can see is that Egland were 92 behind rather than 192 and Botham might just have been a better batsman than Smith.
I wonder what the odds are on an Australian win?

There was a great bit of info put up by Sky during the morning session just after Swann came in:
"Partnership 20 runs off 6 balls"
A single Mitch Johnson over
"He bowls to the left, he bowls to the right ..."

and which Aussie is going to play the Graham Dilley role at #9, he scored 56 out of a stand of 117 in that game.hammy wrote:Let's put a positive spin on this one. Expect Aggers to be doing the sprinkler before lunch

BTW, cracking quote from the Telegraph:
He bowls to the left .......Whereas Australia’s bowlers had been gun-barrel for two days in the sense that they could not swing the ball (nobody would accuse Mitchell Johnson of being gun-barrel straight), Anderson made the ball dart around, both ways. It was akin to magic, such was the sleight of hand.

Absolutely bloody wonderful and finally something in somewhat a miserable start to yet another another year to be buoyant about
Not that watching the news you would think it was something worth shouting about.
If it were 'kissball' and England winning a major competition the press would still be harping on about it 45 years later.
Well done Flower - in fact well done all of the back room team. Long may our run of success continue or the rest of the tour and as we head off to the ICC Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh

I am sure this reporter could put spin on, how Australia A are trying to wear England out by letting them bat so long.
We are not all one eyed trolls as this Will Swanton may be.
Things will get worse for the Aussies as we tour South Africa in September that I am not looking forward too at all.

A series from TMS:
What do you call a world-class Australian cricketer? Retired.
What do you call an Aussie with a bottle of Champagne? A waiter.
What do you call an Australian who can hold a catch? A fisherman.
What do you call an Aussie holding a six inch urn above his head? The England bowling coach!
