1. If a player only has the core game of Fog of War (ver. 1.4.3) installed and has no DAG pacs installed can he still play all the "official" scenarios versus a multiplayer opponent? In other words are the DAG pac troop icons published so far imbedded in the core game?

2. When issuing a Multiplayer challenge, what is meant by a "Paired game"?

Yes, you can play the scenarios included with the basic game and any custom scenarios which only use the icons included with the basic game.

2. When issuing a Multiplayer challenge, what is meant by a "Paired game"?

The paired game option is only available for scenarios and it means that the two players will play two games in parallel where they each one side in the scenario in the first game and the opposing side in the second. since some scenarios may not be perfectly balanced, this is a good way to judge the relative skill of the players by comparing how each one does with each side.

As far as I know (which admittedly isn't saying much), all scenarios can be played as long as one player has the expansion containing the scenario.
Or in other words, the units themselves are embedded in the core game.

2. When issuing a Multiplayer challenge, what is meant by a "Paired game"?

A paired game is the same scenario played twice with each player taking opposite sides in the 'mirror' games.
For example, if you started Caer Caradoc as a paired game, you'd get two games started, one as Romans and one as Britons.
It's used mainly if the situation depicted is hopelessly lopsided. Saves one player from being a whipping-boy
