hi guys,
i used to choose mountains if i win the initiative with my swiss army. And , i choose a large steep hill covered with brush as my compulsory. Thus i "consume" the 2 brush available . Am i right? yesterday my opponent argued its "too much"!

Page 140 says that a Hill cab be clear or can be wholly nor partly covered with one of either, broken ground, brush, plantation, vineyards, forest or village. It counts as the number of selections for its size. The covering does not count as extra selections. However, both hill and covering each count towards the maxima (and minima) of their respective types.
A covered hill can be chosen as a compulsory piece only if either of the following apply:
Hills are compulsory
Hills are permitted and the covering is compulsory and of at least normal size.
So it might count as one less from the maximum you can have, but it does not count as 2 brush. I think there is still one brush available waiting to mess up your Swiss.

It is perfectly legal. The one question that I have is when combining hills with covering terrain, how does it count when one or the other is compulsary? A large steep hill counts as one selection if compulsary, but if it is completely covered does that reduce the maxima for the other terrain by one or by two? How often do you see cheesy "not quite minimum size" partial coverings on hills? A band of vineyard at the base of a gentle hill seems a very clever trick.

"A large piece counts as 2 selections (irrelevant) and as 2 towards the max of that type (crucial point), unless it is one of the two compulsory pieces"
from this the only question is whether the covering is a piece or is part of the hill piece (which is the compulsory component).
IMO the line in para 4 of pg 140 clears this:
"a covered hill can be chosen as a compulsory piece...."
refering to the covered hill as a piece IMO means the coverign doesnt take two selections from the maxima.
