Hi all,
After a 10 year break FoG has got me interested in wargaming again. I'm looking at the Essex FoG starter army packs but a couple I'm interested in both use the RO16 figure.

The pose is a little strange and I was wondering if any one used the model and could tell me if you're supposed to cut the Pilum off and attach it to his hand?
Thanks
P.S. I've e-mailed Essex but not had a reply

Actually, yes, you have to cut the pilum and glue it, like in their hoplites, by the way. In my opinion, there are far better options for Romans of that time than Essex. In particular, Alain Touller has very nice models, so do Warmodelling, Old Glory and you can even go for some Xyston ones cutting the plumes from the helmet. Regarding cavalry, Essex horses are the best in the market in my opinion so you will be well served with the cavalry.

Re: Essex RO16 Legionary pilum & shield
I would advise that you try to get two points of contact between the pilum and the figure. E.g. hand and top of shield. The best tool is a pine vice, a miniature drill. The best ones have a rotating plate at te top of the handle -Ferb wrote:Hi all, After a 10 year break FoG has got me interested in wargaming again. Use it as a reemer to cut a channel in the top of the sheild and the hand. Then use Araldite rapid to attach the pilum.
I always clean figures in detergent and rinse well before glueing.
