Backing up games from One PC to another

Post by kregor77 »

Hi, I have a question going about transferring relevant save files from one Pc to another.

I have a laptop and desktop that I want to be able to play the game on either one at different times without having to replay scenario after scenario.
I would like to know what folder(s) and File(s) I need to transfer back and forth so I dont have to play the scenarios over again.

Eg. I start a campaign play for a bit and then save it on my DESKTOP. Then I want to be able to transfer the saved files to my LAPTOP so I can continue playing exactly where I left off when Im on the road.

Could someone or does someone have the answer to this problem?

All and any help would be appreciated.

Everything is sent to My Documents\My Games\BBCBA\Saves

There is the achievements, saves, and other files that keep track of what you have played and where you are at.

I would be cautious though, you need to overwrite the correct files and not the ones you want to keep.

Thanks I was about to delete this post since I posted it in the PC Beta folder by accident.
Ill try working with that folder structure and see what I can do.
Maybe a Sync Program will be a better Idea so it gets only the files that have been modified.

I can move this one to tech and delete the other one.

I would zip the Saves folder and email it to yourself or copy the folder to Dropbox or other sync. A lot depends on what you have going on. If you MP and Solo, you don't want to mess up the MP files and have a failure or out of sync error or cheat warning.

I was thinking of Dropbox. I currently only solo, but have been meaning to do some Multiplayer action soon.
I guess I need to experiment with it and find a test subject so I dont get accused of cheating when im just trying to be mobile :)

Thanks alot for your fast replies.

Welcome

I'm moving this to tech support.

MP works very easy. All automatic. Pick an easy one and post a challenge or accept someone's from the MP screen.

Dropbox works very well for me. Set it to run at start and set the systray icon if you share files often.

You might also find the Slitherine tray icon useful for getting notice of MP turns.

No MP files are stored locally (other than some temp storage) so no syncing would cause any issues there.

Good to know. Can the MP files be deleted without effecting your MP games?

There aren't really any - other than a file we use for temp storage.

Cheers

I synced the %My Documents\My Games\BBCBA\Saves folder to my laptop and it seemed to work just fine.
Now I can fight the good fight on the go! :)

Thanks for all the help. :) :D
