4º Rank pike POA

Post by Rekila »

Just to check. To count the POA for having four ranks of pike: All the BG must be on open terrain or you only needs the four rank to be (the one given the POA). For the spelling in the book it seems to me that all the four ranks should be. We have the following situation: A Swiss Keil of 10 bases charge an Arquebusiers unit on the middle of a difficult river. Only the two first Swiss ranks were on the river and so Severely disorder, the other 3 rear ranks were on open terrain. Do they have the + POA?

No

The base "claiming the POA" is in fact the front base.

So they don't get 4th rank POA for one or both of 2 reasons:

1) The base claiming the POA is not in Open Terrain.
2) The base claiming the POA is Severely Disordered.

That’s clear them. But just to full clear the point: what will happen if the first rank was the one in open terrain and some of the rear ranks were the ones in difficult terrain?

The rear rank bonus would still apply. The logic behind this is that the bases we are forced to use to accommodate the figures are considerably over historical depth - so the rear ranks aren't really where the bases appear to be.
