I have played ONE MP game of BA but have played the single player tons and tons so reasonably competent player but don't know any MP tricks Smile

I am playing the desert rats MP as both the brit and the German (2 games). How are the brits supposed to win this? All they have is a few anti tank guns that in this game are very easy to destroy once spotted, and a tiny number of tanks.... There are I presume some great tactics out there that I am not thinking of? Any ideas

The key to win as Brits here is mobile defense imo. Base your atrong points around the two 6pdr and the 25pdr (always place them in good cover and look for good flanking lines of fire according to the Axis advance), but change positions after they get spotted if you think they are in danger.

The Matilda can be used to fix the main Axis thrust since it can survive quite a few frontal shots from any of the Axis armor. Always look for frontal position with it. Crusaders and M5s should be always on the move and looking for flank/rear shots, but never let them stay in the same place too long or they are fried chicken (they will be, eventually, more than probable). Same stuff for the Pdr trucks. And you have a bonus 4 pdr as well to use as you see fit. You have quite a few options at your disposal here as you can see.

Harass any infantry Axis moves with your MG and mortar, and prepare some nasty ambushes with rest of infantry. Keep your Engineers safe as they can be your last hope to hold important flags if everything else fails. Just keep in mind that Axis needs almost all flags to win, and you dont. Dont make a very frontal defense and let them come in to crush them from the sides/rear. Dont forget to protect your AT gun places with AintaAir since Axis has air support here, and quite nasty.

I have seen the scenario be won with very bold frontal defense in the first hills by Allies, but i believe its a more risky (luck dependent) tactic.

Hope it helps

Thanks, I am going to try some other scenarios first, but will come back to this one, interested in seeing how to win as the brit.

I should be able to play during the day tomorrow. Will put up a couple of normandy challenges. I quite like the idea of playing the same battle from both sides. Gives an interesting perspective.

Just thought I would drop it here, if you are seeking something hard core, you should possibly seek some action in the Tournaments sub forum.

Hello there,

just jumped on the bandwagon, live in the GMT+1 timezone and have 2 games going with 2 open challenges. I finished the desert campaign and the first mission of the allied invasion campaign, so I'm not a vet by any means, but if you feel like having a game with me, PM me and we can set something up!

On a sidenote - I wish more people would issue open challenges. There's a number of password-protected ones but I have yet to see an open one other than the one I issued myself. :)

To be sure of a game its best to issue a challenge. On average it has beeen taking 7 mins for the challenges I put up to be accepted, . Consequently you have to be lucky to find an open game
