Polish troop ratings
As the polish list that for tthe mid 17th cent has no been published can give a few hints on some of the Polish troop types;
Pancerni; how are they rated and the total number for the army.
Polish inf with axe and musket; how are they rated and the total number for the army.
Draggons; how are they rated and the total number for the army.
The total number of Light horse that you can have?
If you can not supply all the information I have asked about at least some information on their weapons rating, armour rating and hvy or med would be great.

It was better to leave disputing about the faith to the theologians and just run argumentative non-believers through with the sword (Louis IX).

Re: Polish troop ratings
This is a bit more information than the NDA allows me to reveal. However, I can tell you the following:BlackPrince wrote:As the polish list that for tthe mid 17th cent has no been published can give a few hints on some of the Polish troop types;

Pancerni are Superior or Average Armoured Cavalry, with Carbine and Melee Pistol before 1676, Light lancers and melee pistol therafter. Lots of them.
Polish infantry with axe and musket are only allowed from 1673 and are Average or Poor Medium Foot, Musket, Heavy Weapon. Lots of them. But "German-style" pike and shot are also allowed before 1680.
Dragoons are Dragoons, Average, Musket, up to 8 bases.
Light Horse - not as many as pancerni, but as many as any reasonable person would want.
If you tell me how many you have/are thinking of getting, I will tell you whether you have exceeded the maxima.

Hi Richard,
Thank you for the information much appreciated, as it is for my brother I will check to see how figures he is has brought so far.
I know he only wants to use four bases of Winged Hussars, I assume it is to do with the cost of them. Will four bases of Winged Hussars fit within the minimum and maximum limits?

Indeed, and any self-respecting Polish army will have at least 8 bases.Scrumpy wrote:Only 4 bases of Winged Hussars ? I thought the whole point of the Polish army was to enjoy some of the most beautifully sculpted figures in the game.
In terms of cost, consider that buying a few of them will use up a lot more points than cheaper horse or foot, so you save on lead!

Yes, but from 1631 you would need more (or some petyhorttsy or cossacks) if you want to use more than 8 bases of hussars.VictorJ wrote:Just for some further help, thinking at about the 1600-1660 period;
- would 8 bases of pancerni (armoured) cover the minimum
As Ukranianian Cossack allies yes. Polish cossacks are not the same.- is there provision for light horse with lance (eg cossacks)
Yes- can you have too much light horse?
Thanks Richard,
A couple more questions (for the moment!), is there a straight halberdier troop type, without musket? If so, approximately how many bases could be used, and would it be 4 figures to a base? Also, with the petyhortsy, are they lance armed cavalry?
Sorry for the questions, just trying to figure out how to use my existing collection...
