From what has been said the scenario designer will be able to mix different figures to create a series of one off battle groups. This a real advance since the overwhelming majority of troops fielded for FOG battles would not be uniformly dressed and equipped.
As things stand the new graphics folders are arranged by national type / sub type and not be expansion pack. Will the be able to only mix figures within a single a folder say for example different types of Classical Greek hoplites, or will we be able to (providing we have all the relevant expansion packs) be able to mix figures from different folders such as for example Hellenistic and Classical Greek Hoplites or Parthian Hoarse Archers from “Rise Of Rome” with Saracen Horse Archers from “Swards and Scimitars” ?
I also note the catapults and their crews now come as separate modals. And that dismounted Chariot crew are provided in some cases such as in “British Ancient”, “Indian Classical” and “Persian Ancient” folders. Will these be able to be pressed into service to man bolt shooters?
Finally the single figure graphics files with no more than 12 images would now make it much more feasible for those minded to do some digital repainting in programs like Photoshop. Are we going to get a battle group editor added on to the core game or will it come out as a separate product ?
Finally for those awaiting “Legions Triumphant” there is already a Roman Cataphract figure in the “Roman Participate” folder.
Looking forward to all of this a lot
Ian
