Early Swedes vs Early Imperialist

Post by nickdives »

We had a small game on Tuesday 1260 poiunts of Early Imperials Vs 1266 points of Early Swedes. Deployment was pretty standard with a Cav heavy flank, Infantry centre and second flank with a couple of horse units per side.

The main action was on the Swedish right flank with the Imperial Cav Div advancing. In the centre was a hill which slowed 2 units down and allowed the Swedish Dragoons some sport. Meanwhile the Croats who had come up to harry had to make an evade move when caught by the Finns. This took them through the Elite Cuirassiers causing disorder. Meanwhile in the centre the Imperial infantry advanced, bar a LT who were held behind the guns and the ET who spent the game waiting! The guns on both sides faced each other, the imperial concentraing on counter bty, not to well and the Swedish guns on the LT behind the Imperial guns, rout away chaps!

The cavalry battle developed with success for the Swedes, in routing the Cuirassiers, unit of elite and a superior one together with a couple of carbine horse units. On the hill the Imperial cavalry advanced very slowly, but on their second attempt the Swedes managed to contract withoput moving to allow the dragoons top pass by, waiting to hit the Imperial cavalry. Although the infantry advanced there was to be no Infantry action and the Imperials thew in the towell as their left wing collapsed with the threat of Swedish cavalry running rampant in their rear areas! A small cav action on the other flank saw the Swedes victorious as well. A good game, more pics of this and one of our campaign games :
