streltsi?

Post by footslogger »

How are these going to be classified? I can kind of imagine what the muscovite cav will be like, but am curious about how the streltsi might be represented.

MF, Arquebus (later Musket), Heavy Weapon.

Cool. And now that you say it, it seems obvious. (looks for the "slaps forehead" emoticon)

That's more like it. I can't wait for that list. My Muscovites are rubbish under another set of element based rules for the period.

I doubt they are world beaters in FoG:R, but hopefully they can put up a decent show.

Why'd you have to go and spoil it all again? :)

Perhaps for us we can do the Knights of Malta, and just blow things up in front of the curtain wall.

Well, in my calculation streltsy of the earlier period-Ivan IV- should be MF, unarmored, average, arquebus, H weapon. At that period they were lacking pike BUT had a use of Gulai-Gorod- portable defenses. In the later period ( Alexei Mikhailovich) they should swap arquebus with musket, drop Gilai-Gorod but get some pike- HF, unarmored, average, pike...
From the period of Mikhail Romanov there should be also Western style mercenary regiments with musket armed shot and armored pike... Cavalry should be bow armed- up to Narva! with only difference between Boyars and Dvoryans- latter should be superior and armored vs average and protected. All swordsmen... I do not see any impact capability with them (?)
There should be also a plethora of all sorts of artillery. Some skirmishing cossacks on horseback and mostly on foot- possibly superior! Not sure on world beaters- BUT it certainly should be a very capable army ( unless real list is very different from my calculations)...

It isn't. (although in fact there are two lists, an early one in "Clash of Empires" and a later one in "Duty and Glory")

Thanks, Richard!
I was not sure if you decided to cram all into one list or indeed separate Ivan - Mikhail from Alexei... There should be some odds and ends- western style reiters, dragoons and even possibly some wacky Zhiltzy ( if at all)- but these should be in small numbers- 4 base BGs. Interested if at all Time of Troubles is represented in early list- since a large chunk of some Russian armies were in fact Polish! I am interested if at all represented army of False Dmitry-Marina Mnyzchek...

Hmm, well I will let the list author answer those questions.
