Making New Maps from Old Maps with the Y key Resizer

Post by junk2drive »

I finally figured out how to use the Y key in the editor and thought I would share.

Assuming you are familiar with the editor and campaign folder setup (covered in other threads), I copied a map from a campaign into a new campaign. I start the editor and select that campaign then load the copied map. It is best to remove all units and flags before resizing. Select a tile on the map on the lower left side. Press the Y key and left click your selected tile. Move your pointer to the upper right and select the opposite corner tile then left click. Your new map area will be highlighted. If you want to adjust this larger or smaller, left click near the upper right corner or lower left corner. The highlighted area will change.

Now click the + icon on the lower left of the side panel. This will bring up the resize map window. The numbers are inserted by the Y key tool. Click the resize map button and yes to the warning. You will now see a new size map. If you a happy with this, save the map with a different name. Then continue to make your scenario. If it isn't what you expected, don't save, click the load/save button and load the original map and try again.
You can call me junk - and type that with one hand.
