So far I have been through the Western Desert campaign. I have enjoyed it quite a bit so far. Just when you think the game is a bit easy you play a few of the tougher scenarios ( and I try to get all achievements) near the end and I can see a challenge coming.

1. Is there an adjustable difficulty level? I can't seem to find an options page at all. I must have missed it in the smaller manual.
2. I haven't tried it yet but is there any way to move around artillery pieces with trucks?
3. Is there a list of the special abilities units gain when they reach elite status? I had an anti tank gun in one of the scenarios just completely destroying everything that it came up against in the perfect position.

4. Are most of the battles set piece encounters with no deployment? I understand the multiplayer game is like that in the scenarios and I see why but it would be nice to have the option to deploy at will.

5. Is there an option for random starting positions and units for the AI? If so where is it?

Sorry for these basic questions, I guess I need to read the manual again, but it is on the light side of things. Overall though even though it is turned based(don't get me wrong, turned based are my favorite...too old for RTS..lol) it's on of the better smaller tactical war games I have played since the Close Combat games. I liked Combat Mission too, but that game didn't have the "fun" aspect of this one, and it took forever to play a larger scenario pbem.

Kudos on another simple but very fun war game Slitherine. I also like the WW2 Commander game you have for it's ease of play yet fun depth.

Press the esc key to access the options and save game screen.

My list of stuff

I posted a list of the "tips"

You can create a scenario with random forces

I loved Close Combat until I realised I was too old for RTS.

Off to work now, someone else will fill in the blanks.
You can call me junk - and type that with one hand.

Thankyou junk2drive. Which scenarios are the random encounters Slitherine has added in the latest patch? Just to get a feel for how they are laid out in the editor of course. I have downloaded your WIP campaign, always one of my favorite theaters in WW2.

Oh yeah I had one more question about the games played/won/battles stat. Do they show your single played games? It shows I have 11 wins 22 battles(?) games played 9(?), not sure what this means. How do I have 11 wins in 9 games played, but 22 battles? I did start over a few times and lost a couple.

I don't know if anybody has posted a random scenario yet. Maybe I'll make one.

There is Pacific Campaign 1 2 and 3 in the scenarios section.

The stats don't mean anything yet. Every time you start up the game it shows as battles I think. I have a lot because of testing but really have only played MP a couple of times.

Welcome to the BA community Slazz!

The scenarios you are asking for are Buying Time and A Christmas Surprise. Both have randomly generated units for the Axis every turn, although taken from a fixed pool for balance reasons. In the first one, there are actually three possible entry points for the new units every turn, also randomized.

Let me suggest you just setup a couple of open Challenges and you will find a new dimension for this game that makes it shine even more : playing against another human (you can do it in a very casual way actually, no rushes)

Feel free to setup a private one if you so prefer an PM me the password if you feel like as another option. More than happy to pick any side.

Cheers
