Allied contingents effect on battlegroup selection

Post by Seluselus »

Can't find the answer to this question so thought I'd ask the experts!

Appendix 1 - using the lists states that

'All special instructions applying to an army list must be adhered to. They also apply to allied contingents supplied BY the army.'

So is the same true for allied contingents supplied TO the army. ie...if the main army list says 'minimum marked * only applies if any foot used' does this apply to the main list troops only or also to an ally, ie.. if the ally included foot does that trigger the minimum even though no foot are taken from the main list.

This won't be too helpful...but it depends - sorry.

Do you have a specific example that you're looking at?

Hi Pete

Answering my own question now. Scanning through the army list books and some list notes say 'minimum if any non-allied foot used and some say minimum if any foot used. So, by default, unless it stipulates non allied foot then ally foot trigger the minimum.

List I was looking at was Graeco-Bactrian with Saka ally.

No problem - and yes, I think you're right. If you take Saka foot it triggers the compulsory foot in the main list.
