Curious about dice

Post by babyshark »

Reading the recent posts about the Usk tournament has left me wondering: how many die rolls are there in a game of AoW? More than in a similar DBM game? Less? About the same?

That is a difficult question.

Overall I think there are more individual dice rolled but less rolls altogether.

In DBM as you run down a line of combats there is one roll of one die each per player per combat. In AoW each combat will be resolved using a number of dice and there will be one roll (of several dice) per pair of battlegroups fighting.

Looking at the most complex fight I had at Usk each round would have involved three rolls per player with between 1 and 3 dice per roll. Once the combat is complete some of the battlegroups may have to roll a cohesion test (2 dice) and a casualty test (1 die) but these could be rolled together.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, Hammy. That's exactly what I was interested in knowing.
