Battle of Montaperti

Post by omarquatar »

one of the greatest battles of the italian Middle Ages, remembered of in Dante's Inferno ("la strage e il grande scempio / che fece l'Arbia colorata in rosso").
it's guelphs against ghibellines,
if you want to play against the AI, choose the guelph side, but be prepared to fight off the infamous traitor Bocca degli Abati as well as the noble Farinata.

Hey, fun idea for a scenario. always enjoyed reading about taht battle. Its a shame that I don't have "storm of arrows" to play it, otherwise I'd d/l it right away.

I've just discovered that you don't need Storm of Arrows to play that battle! Not sure why...

I am pretty sure the expansion packs just give the ability to lead those armies in the DAg battles and or make scenarios for yourself with the new units, others posting user made scenarios can be played even with the units graphics from expansions you dont have... Not sure how this technically works maybe all current graphics are part of patches? and just not fully assecible ?)

How to play a new scenario and where do you find them.

Post by ericdoman1 »

Hi guys

As the message but in very simple terms. OK not make sure you have paid electricity and internet bill. Plug in computer etc.

Where do you find these scenarios.

What files do you download and into what files or folders in FOG and where. Again please be very specific.

I read about a comp game based on a Seleucid vs Roman scenario and I think Morbio or Hidde won it because they received least casualties. Would be very interested in that one, was it Britcon or BHGS challenge? See how many goes I'd need to try and get close.

Cheers

Eric
Step 1 Plug in computer, turn on :D
Step 2 download user scenario, usually is a link to a tp upload site like dropbox etc, usually the link is in the designers ist post
Step 3 I usually dl to my desktop and then just extract it there as well. The extracted file should be a folder named after the scenario title (inside this is a data folder)
Step 4 copy paste or drag and drop the extracted folder to : C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Slitherine\FieldOfGlory Scenarios
(that is the default path when you install FOF, note this is not where the main progam lives, for some reason new software seems to want things like saved games etc to be in a folder in your docs area)
