Hi folks
In order to prepare the next Player Tournament (working with fellow Captain and his nice idea "Duplicate Bridge too Far", see adjacent thread in this subforum) I would like to start a little poll about what you all average or experienced (or whoever feels like) MP players think about the MP maps published so far.
I will create three categories and then include the 15 scenarios in those, giving them points from 3 to 1, so the most voted will be chosen as the tournament maps (depending on number of players for tournament)
Categories
- Well Balanced (3 points) : Those scenarios that you have played several times and pretty much won (or lost) with different sides and different tactics.
- Favors one Side (2 point) : Those that seem to favor one side, but at least managed to see a different result more than 2/3 times when proper tactics are applied. Also point out the side you think is favored
- Not Balanced (1 points) : No matter what you try or how many times, always one side wins. It´s just a matter of time.
Here are my votes :
- Well Balanced :
Winter Village, Close Combat, Race for the Town (Bulge)
Desert Fort, Desert Rats (Desert)
Bocage Village, Over the Hill (Normandy)
Clash of Armor (Slitherine)
- Favors one Side :
A Christmas Surprise-Allies (Bulge)
Desert Encounter-Allies (Desert)
Along the Road-Axis (Normandy)
Street Fighting-Allies (Slitherine)
-Not balanced :
Buying Time (Bulge)
Road to Caen, D-Day+3 (Normandy)
Thanks for participating and stay tuned for some updates for the next Players Tournament of BA!!
Cheers
EDIT : This categories can change after next update with expected fixes to MP scenarios are available, as already announced by Slitherine.

All Scenarios listed have flags in their Beta Map Pack 2 version. Not sure if we might hava a problem using scenarios with different number of flags/units or since everyone will be playing every scenario, this fact would balance itself.
I believe we need one different scenario per every two players participating, am I right Captain?
I believe Ian said they will be adding some new tweaks to Beta Packs in next patch but i don´t think it made it to this one (1.4.1) from what i read here. Any news on that Ian/Pip?
Cheers

Each round would need to be a different scenario, not each pairing. Everyone would play the same scenario.Acererak wrote: I believe we need one different scenario per every two players participating, am I right Captain?
Example:
Round 1 - Desert Rats
Round 2 - Along the Road
Round 3 - Winter Village
Final - Race for the Town
My two cents.
Desert Encounter - Balanced
Winter Village -- Balanced
Along the Road - Balanced - Have only played once and that was as the Axis. As six flags immediately go into Allied hands, I would say that this makes it an attack-defend scenario and allows the Allies to become the defenders, offsetting any Axis material advantage.
Clash of Armour -- Favors one side - the Axis seem to have a material advantage
Desert Rats -- Favors one side - the Allies hold all VP's creating an attack-defend situation with ideal defensive positions
As has been mentioned elsewhere, one way to absolutely off set any balance issues is to have players contest the scenario first as one side, then as the other.
Meeting engagement scenarios seem most fair, given that the forces are as equal as possible. of course, that's not war.
