Problem reinstalling after switching to a new computer

Post by gudin »

I switched computers, and installed FoG on the new machine. I can play single player fine, but it won't let me play multiplayer.

What do I need to do?

FoG Mac 1.3.5

Snow Leopard

Thanks

Why wont it let you play? Have you installed all the army packs?

I get an error when I try and log in:

Sorry, could not log in.
Reason: User has one or more serials. (Code 11)

Is there any movement on this? I transferred all my data and settings to the new computer via a backup, when I tried to run the first time, it was missing a file, so I deleted it and re-installed it, and added the serials for the game and all the army packs, updating it to the latest version. I can now play fine in single player, but I get the above error when I try to log in to the multiplayer server.

What do I need to do? I want to remove the program from my work laptop, and have it on my home iMac.

Mac version, 1.3.5, all current army packs, running on up to date Snow Leopard iMac Quad Core i7 2.93 Ghz.

It sounds like you've used different serials to the ones linked to your account. Can you look at MyPage on the homepage and check the serial numbers you have registered for the games are the ones you are using.

Did you have a PC version at some point and switch over?

I had a PC version when it came out in December (running it in a VMWare virtual machine on my work laptop mac). Then I bought the mac version when it came out (along with all the army packs). When I first switched, I got a similar error, then I uninstalled it, and reinstalled, using the PC serial for the main game on my mac, then the mac serials for the army packs (which I didn't have until I got the mac version). This solved it on my work laptop mac. I then gave the new unused serial I bought to a friend who plays the table top game. He is using it on his mac, though he hasn't done multiplayer as yet.

In any event, the work laptop mac's install worked fine (and still does). Now I am trying to switch from that to the new iMac I bought (which is where it should be, rather than on a work machine). Now I want to use the same serials on the iMac, and kill the install on the work laptop.

When I setup the iMac, I transferred all the settings and data over using a Time Machine backup, and everything went fine. Except when I tried to play FoG there was a missing or corrupt file, so I deleted the app and reinstalled using the same serials I originally had on the work laptop. That works fine, except now I get this error on the iMac for multiplayer. I can still play multiplayer on the work laptop.

What do I need to do to get this to work?

Thanks

Any news on this? How can I get this to work on the new machine?

As I said, my account is linked to the original PC serial for the basic game (purchased in December) and three serials for the expansions that I bought together with the Mac version in July.

I did not register the serial that I bought when I bought the Mac version of the basic game, and instead gave that basic game serial to a friend who plays the TT game.

I want to have the serials on my account stay as they are. Unfortunately, the install on my new computer won't let me play online.

Can you mail info@slitherine.co.uk with the full details of your account username & serials you want to use and we'll try and unravel it :)
